January 8th

January 31, 2023

Greetings! The following are the Announcements for Sunday January 8, 2023

1. Bro Ed Lanz passed away Saturday at his home.  We are thankful he has reached his reward, and want to extend our love and sympathy to Sis Marilyn and the family circle. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6-8pm at church. The funeral will be Thursday with singing at 10:15 and the service at 10:30am. Wednesday evening church will be cancelled this week.

2. The video recordings of the General Conference are available on AC Central. Follow this link
AC Central Events and then click on the drop down box under All Events and select Brotherhood Conferences.

3. Sis Christy Stoller made it safely to Togo on January 2nd and has begun settling into her work there. She has a blog with updates on her experience, including specific requests for prayer. If you are interested, please see the following link:
https://cmstoller.wixsite.com/handsoflove  If you have any questions, please contact Sister Emily Bahler who is in regular contact with Sis Christy.

4. Balloting for the annual meeting is scheduled for Sunday afternoon January 22, after the afternoon service. Votes will be counted soon after, and ballots will not be available at the evening meeting.
- If you are unable to attend the balloting, you can obtain an absentee ballot by contacting our secretary, Sis Mary-Ann Gerber, beginning January 15.
- All absentee ballots need to be received by Sis Mary-Ann no later than 2pm on Sunday, Jan 22.

5. Church trustees have been working on major items for 2023, some of which may be above the current threshold in our bylaws and will require approval of the church.
- The Trustees will share these briefly with us on Sunday afternoon, January 15, after the afternoon service.
- The items requiring approval will be included on the annual meeting ballot.
- In addition, the fixed $$ authority level in our bylaws has not been updated to reflect construction inflation for many years.  Our annual meeting ballot will include a proposed increase to the annual limit.

6. Over the past several months, we have piloted the use of the Hymns of Zion hymnal on Wednesday evenings. We would like to hear the sentiment of the church, and plan to do this through the annual meeting ballot which will include a Yes/No question that asks whether you support moving forward with using the Hymns of Zion for Wednesday evenings. We would move forward presuming 2/3 or more of the ballots indicate support.

7. Brothers Kevin and Brent will be heading to the elder/ordained deacon forums in Chicago for the next few days, and appreciate your prayers.
