June 4th

Deanna Wiegand • June 6, 2023

Greetings! The following are the Announcements for Sunday June 4, 2023

1.  Sis Harriet Farney passed away peacefully early Saturday morning.  Arrangements will be on Wednesday, June 7 with calling hours from 9am – 10am, singing beginning at 10:15am, service beginning at 10:30am.  A sign-up to bring food or help with the funeral meal is on the bulletin board.

2. Our converts Ella Moser and Ron Tredor were announced for peace and readiness for baptism. We have set aside the weekend of September 9 & 10 for testimonies and baptisms (Elder Bro Dan Kilgus from Remington plans to be with us).

Ron suffered a stroke about ten days ago (about a week after his interview with the ministers) and is now in the ICU step-down unit at Hartford Hospital. He is currently paralyzed on his right side and able to communicate by shaking his head yes or no. We are unsure of the degree to which he may recover and will adjust the plans for his testimony and baptism accordingly.

3. Next Sunday we plan to share the results of our minister search process and Lord willing will have a minister installation service as the afternoon service. Sunday School will be cancelled. Please continue to be prayerful that the Lord will guide the work and provide as He sees fit for our congregation.

4. Our annual blood drive is Monday, June 5 from 9-6 in church fellowship area.

5.   Sunday School Preschool class signup is available.  Parents can sign up children at the following link:
Preschool Signup

6. Sunday School Picnic: Everyone is invited to the Sunday School Picnic which is scheduled for Saturday, June 17 at East Windsor Park.  The park will be open from 9am-7pm with lunch being served at 12pm. Each family is asked to bring a side dish while the meat and dessert will be provided.  Parents and teachers should have received a link yesterday by text to sign up to volunteer. If you did not receive it and would like more details, please contact Bro Gardy or Sis Suzi.

7.  Our Spring collection is running at just over half of prior year collections, and will be extended for a few more weeks.

8.   Calendar for the remainder of 2023:
·      June 24: Spring Memorandum
·      Sept 9/10:  Testimonies/Baptisms
·      Oct 14: Saturday evening: ACCFS presentation at the Fellowship Center
·      Oct 28: Saturday evening -- Fall Memorandum
·      Nov 18/19:  Hold date – possible baptism weekend

9.     Longview Fellowship Center Updates:

·      Longview Fellowship Center will be closed on Sundays going forward. The patio is available for usage.

·      We are unsure of when we will be able to officially use the facility, due to some important ventilation equipment that has not yet arrived. Our tentative date of a first event of June 25 is quite uncertain at this point. If it does go forward, it will simply be a first event, and not any sort of dedication event.

·      We plan to have a special Longview Fellowship Center dedication event some time in September or October.

·      Sis Josie Gerber and the building committee have been working through the details of reservation and usage process. We hope to share more on that later this month.

·      As questions on specific usages are coming up, we have realized that in addition to our principles-based guidelines, some more specific usage guidelines and expectations will be useful and helpful to have in place. We are working to update the guidelines and expect to have those completed later this month.

·      We have launched a LFC Usage Planning Committee and asked them to lead the establishment of a regular rhythm of events that prioritize church functions, connection, discipleship, and serving one another and the community.  This cross-generational committee includes the following brothers and sisters: Naomi Schneider, David & Marla Moser, Stu & Sarah Kilgus, Andrew & Colleen Luginbuhl, Ronnie & Bonnie Bahler, Tim & Dana Schneider, Terry & Cindy Virkler, and Nancy Gerber, and is chaired by Bro David Moser.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please see any of them.

-  We appreciate all that so many of you are doing to help bring the facility to fruition.
