January 16th
Greetings! The following are the Announcements for Sunday January 16, 2022
1. Bro Ben Moser asked that we share his expression of appreciation for the love, kind deeds, and support he has experienced through his recent hospitalization and recovery.
2. We want to share the passing of Bro Duane Reutter’s mother, Sis. Anna Marie Reutter of Gridley, IL. We are thankful for the victory, and want to extend our love and support to Bro Duane and Sis Kay Reutter and their family. Visitation hours will be on Thursday evening from 4 - 7pm at the Knapp Funeral Home in El Paso IL. The Funeral will be Friday morning at the Gridley church, with burial to follow at the Cissna Park Church Cemetery (a 1.5 - 2.0 hour drive from the Gridley church to the Cissna Park church cemetery).
3. We also want to mention the passing of Kenny Myrick, who is a close friend of our convert Curtis Terrell. We want to extend our love and sympathy to Curtis through this time of loss.
4. As many may be aware, Sis. Tanya Campbell will be moving to Texas towards the end of this month. We want to extend our love and prayers and wish her and her family God’s blessings as they transition into a new chapter on their journey.
5. Given the ongoing prevalence of Covid, this Wednesday evening we will continue our video playback of the next two general conference speakers. We will do this via zoom only, beginning at 7:00, and will not be gathering here at church in person.
6. Our annual business meeting will be next Sunday evening at 7:00pm. Balloting for positions will be conducted Sunday afternoon following the afternoon service, as well as on Sunday evening.
a. For members unable to attend church on Sunday, if you would like to vote please reach out this week to Secretary Bro. Joe Koch. You can reach him via cell phone (860.558.5000) or e-mail (joseph.koch.1987@gmail.com), or you can stop by his home where ballots are available in a labeled container in their breezeway. Completed ballots can be returned to Bro Joe either electronically or can be returned to him at his home by placing them in the correspondingly-labeled container in his breezeway.
b. The agenda will include our typical reports and updates, including an update and next steps related to the fellowship center. In addition, after discussions with our Treasurer and Trustees, we would like to pilot a new approach to approving upgrade/maintenance-related projects.
- Each year, given the size and age of our building, we typically spend around $40,000 on upgrade-related projects, which are approved individually at special meetings after church throughout the year as needed. Our goal is to simplify the process while maintaining opportunity for input, appropriate transparency, and healthy accountability.
- This year, we have asked the Trustees to develop a 2022 upgrade plan with a targeted set of projects and corresponding upgrade budget for 2022, with the goal of presenting and taking a vote of approval as part of the annual meeting process. We are still working through the details and may only be able to partially pilot the new process, but wanted to make you aware of the new approach ahead of the meeting.
