August 15th

August 18, 2021

Greetings! The following are the Announcements for Sunday August 15, 2021

1. Haiti Earthquake:  Please continue to pray for Bro Gardy and Sis Suzi Moreau and their family, as well as for others serving in Haiti and the people of Haiti.  We pray that their faith will be sustained and God’s love will shine through amidst the darkness of disaster, fear, sorrow and suffering.

2. Our fall collection for HarvestCall, Gateway Woods, and others continues through the month of August.

3. Sis. Jayme Luginbuhl has updated the serving list which re-starts next Sunday, August 22nd. She has confirmed dates with the first several people, and has posted the list for the remainder of the year on the bulletin board, along with updated serving guidance. Please take a look and if you have any changes or questions, please contact Sis Jayme Luginbuhl. Also please note that the list for the first half of next year is in progress and will be available in September.

4. Solar proposal: The Trustee’s proposal to add solar panels to the church was approved with 95%+ support. The Trustees will move forward with this project in the coming months.

5. The Fellowship Center Design Committee will present their recommendations on Thursday August 26th at 7 pm up in the Sunday School assembly room.

As a refresher on how we arrived at this point: In January of 2017 we created a Planning Committee. In January of 2018, we approved the recommendation to phase out LVV. In September/October 2018, the Planning committee shared the vision for a multi-use facility, the concept design, and budget. We then gathered financial intentions to ensure viability, and voted on and approved the concept design with 85% approval.

In January of 2020, we formed a Fellowship Center Design Committee which includes: Bro Joe Koch, Sis Jan Moser, Sis Jen Kloter, Bro Pete Welti, Sis Leah Luginbuhl, Bro Josh Bahler, and Bro Tom Gerber (chairperson). We entrusted this committee to: review the concept design, form subcommittees (engaging a large cross-section of our church), refine and develop a more detailed design, refine the budget, and present a final design for a final vote of approval by the congregation.

The process and timeline for final approval following the August 26th meeting will be as follows:

a. The committee will be available at noon on the following two Sundays for questions.

b. The budget estimates have increased, so we again need to need to confirm there is sufficient financial donation support to make the project viable. Intention forms will be handed out at the meeting on 8/26, and will be due back by Wednesday, September 8th

c. If there is sufficient financial support, we will take a final confirmation vote Sunday, September 12th, where the question will be: “Do you approve the revised Fellowship Center proposal as presented by the Design Committee?”

d. If approved, the Design Committee would then complete the next step of developing detailed construction documents.

We encourage you to attend the meeting on 8/26, and appreciate the love, respect, and peaceableness that has been exhibited throughout this process.
